LOBBYISTS FOR the homosexual subculture claim that same-sex unions are inherently deserving of formal civil and religious approbation. They wage a relentless and narcissistic battle to imitate married heterosexual members of society--whose rights and duties are given to them by God and acknowledged by cultures since recorded history--as a matter of natural and divine justice.
UNABLE TO campaign against God, proponents of legally-recognized homosexual unions insist on formal approval from governmental institutions. Proselytizing the startling and artificial conceit that norms of conjugality and natural law are irrelevant to human behavior and morality is outside the law, homosexual activists identify and target sympathetic judges and legislators. When normative standards of conduct and belief are degraded by institutional fiat, such as judicial decisions in favor of abortion, sodomy, and euthanasia, the inevitable result is to accelerate pervasive social disorientation, normlessness, and dread of the future.
AT PRESENT our nation staggers before a tidal wave of self-destructive and socially-destructive behaviors. First among causes destabilizing families are abortion and contraception. Others are: the abuse of children, the explosion of single-parent families, unwed mothers, dead-beat fathers, spousal violence, drug addiction and crime. The prevalence of these social maladies degrades the integrity and stability of the traditional family.
AT SOME point, deviations from the norm can be perceived as "normal". They become common especially to the extent they are permitted to become repetitive and extensive. In the absence of an explicitly shared moral vocabulary, people will often substitute the modifiers "open", "accepting", "inclusive" and "tolerant" for authentic moral judgment and genuine virtue.
ATTEMPTS TO legalize same-sex unions must be rejected to prevent further destabilization of the traditional family--the foundation of society and the integrity of the one, holy, Catholic and apostolic Church which Christ himself founded.
"PASSING AWAY"
ACTIVE HOMOSEXUALITY is incompatible with a holy way of life. It never leads to unity in God through his perfect law, nor does it lead to perpetuation in nature through procreation. Homosexual unions can only simulate these things. Consequently, it is naturally and spiritually impossible for homosexuals to be consummated as "one flesh". [cf. Mt 19:4-6] A legal ceremony is powerless to correct a gravely disordered same-sex relationship.
HAVING REJECTED the precepts of natural and divine law known by right reason--that is to say, morality and conjugality--neither homosexual companion can give what is due to the other in the sight of God. There is no bride or groom. Hence, it is impossible for homosexual partners to receive the indelible mark of spiritual fatherhood and motherhood or to witness this unmerited, immutable and intrinsic grace to each other or to innocent and vulnerable children within their control.
OUR HEAVENLY Father alone names what is true or not true regarding sexual relations and matrimony. Through, with, and in his holy Name, a man and woman are invited to make a covenant between themselves and Christ the Groom: for the marriage of the Lamb has come, and his Bride has made herself ready. "Blessed are those who are invited to the marriage supper of the Lamb." [Rev 19:7-9]
FOR THIS reason, sexual unions outside the Sacrament of Matrimony are a sign of disordered fallen humanity and a countersign to God's ordered and immaculate Kingdom. Because homosexual unions are estranged from the Divine Groom's nuptial celebration to his Bride the Church--and civil authorities cannot legislate away this transcendent reality--they belong to the "form of this world (which) is passing away". [1Cor 7:31]
